Springtime in the Northwest
Well, it is finally springtime in the Northwest. The leaves are just starting to bud out, the daffodils and hyacinths are in full bloom and the tulips are just starting. It is still darn cold and we still have frost many mornings. This has been one heck of a winter....one that I am glad is getting gone!! We never did fall garden cleanup and I am out pruning things that need it. The two big garden chores this spring are to move the strawberries into a new bed and empty the compost pile so the strawberries can have some of that "black gold" to grow in. So far, it has been too rainy! Still, we have had some promise of better weather. The daytimes are getting into the 50's and the daylilies, hardy geraniums and weeds are sprouting like mad. March is now over and by the close of April, it should All be green and full of blooming rhodies. I can't wait!!! |
