My Body Won't Do That!
My Body Won't Do That! - Reflections on Resuming Yoga I recently started taking Yoga again after a hiatus of a couple of years. I sure don't know what happened in the intervening two years, but "downward dog" was never so down. During the first session, my muscles quivered just to get into that position, and wobbled when I tried to maintain the position. Struggling to get to the end of the session. Second session, not quite so hard but still difficult. "You want me to stand on one foot and balance, staring onto a point in the room for how long?!" Third session, getting better. Hmmm, I notice a little more stamina and "I think I see a muscle there." But oh that twist was a killer. Fourth session, so that pose is supposed to help build bone denisity....."yeah right, If I can get into the pose." The hot pack sure feels good afterward. Fifth session, enough with "downward dog already" "what's wrong with doing "cat-cow" position for awhile? Well, we are at the end of week five. It is a killer, but I think I'll keep on. I have noticed some increase in stamina in the poses, some increased muscle strength and some increased energy in general. The instructor is good and that hot pack really does feel good afterward.
