I Love My Hybrid Car
I Love My Hybrid Car About a year ago I got my hybrid car, just as the gas prices were starting to go up. (We all know where they are now.) I am reasonably environmentally and cost conscious, and I had been planning on buying a hybrid when I needed to get a new car. I even had the model and color picked out. I have had good luck with Hondas, so my choice was a natural; although I was also considering the Prius. I thought that I would not buy until the end of the year. Then, one time when I went to drool over the model I wanted, I found out that Honda was having a promotional rate on their own financing. I thought it over, crunched the numbers, did some research on Honda's price for the car and research on resale value of my old car, and decided to go ahead and buy. I didn't do badly in the negotiations either. Well, I drove out with an Ice Blue Civic, and have been a happy camper ever since. The following week, I started seeing the not so gradual increase in gas prices. Of course, I am saving on the gas. You could say this is one of the key reasons I love my car. My savings is not a good as the hype, but within the range of what I thought would be good mileage. I love the color...that Ice Blue really grabbed me when I saw it; even though it meant giving up my Fire Engine Red, fuzz bait Civic. I love being able to drive a car that is not a gas guzzler, not that my other one was. But I like doing something for the environment as well as for my pocketbook. I am happy with the fact that car service is determined by sensors in the car rather than possibly unnecessary commands to do service at a certain mileage. I really love the way the cruise control is structured. I have never been able to use it in high traffic situations. I found that I can toggle the cruise control on this one on the steering wheel and ramp down or up the speed often without turning it off. This saves me even more gas. And once again, now that I am seeing gas prices that hover around $3.70, I am Very happy that I can go at least an extra 100+ miles on a tank of gas than on my previous car. Yes, I have a car payment; but I was going to buy anyway. The higher price of the hybrids is a consideration, but I think worth it for what I am getting. |
