A Very Happy Gra'ma
A Very Happy Gra'ma It has been nearly eighteen years since my eldest son and his wife blessed me with the first of five grandchildren. I was in graduate school and did not yet have a cell phone but knew that my daughter-in-law had gone to the hospital. Before the day was over, half of the USC School of Social Work knew that I was awaiting the birth of my granddaughter. Even one of my profs passed me and said..."Well!?" It was just after midnight that she was born. She is now a lovely young lady, finishing high school and planning to go to art school, or medical school, or the school of psychology or something else....! It didn't take much longer before the same son decided to move to Israel with his family.....(Way too far for me!! But I have an excuse to visit regularly.) He has since blessed me with two more grandchildren, born there. The middle one is a boy who will be Bar Mitzvah in August, so naturally I am going for the Bar Mitzvah (in August, in the heat of the summer...they should have had more consideration than to have children in August!) The youngest is also a girl, who is a wonderful wild thing....always bouncy.....loves dinosaurs and penguins and spotted cows. My other son finally got married and blessed me with twin grandsons three years ago. They are a bundle of fun...very active and very smart (could they be anything else coming from my son....not that I'm biased) They live only 2 hours away and not 20 hours away, so I get to see them much more frequently. My older son is done with having kids, but I will wait to see what other children my younger son and his wife will bring. No doubt they will be equally as fun, and make me a Very Happy Gra'ma!! |
